The bus caused hours of delays
A bus caused major disruption across the city of Colchester earlier today after it broke down on a busy road.
Motorists endured chaos as queues reached as far as Faversham, forcing them to find alternative routes.
The bus driver was seen fleeing the scene. Unconfirmed reports suggest he reached the end of his shift and just despawned.
Thankfully, the driver activated the hazard warning lights. Without them, drivers would have had no idea the bus was there.
The bus stopped alongside a sign which read: "Buses manoeuvring", causing confusion among motorists.
A passenger who was onboard the bus said: "The bus was working, and then it wasn't. I reckon the engine just fell off."
Thousands of engineers were dispatched to the scene. They confirmed the bus had broken down and then returned to their homes.
A motorist who was affected said: "The roads were mad. Luckily, Castle Park offers affordable helicopter facilities, so I travelled to my destination by air."
In a bid to restore order to the city, officers from West Midlands Police were called to the scene but have not yet arrived.
The incident has sparked concern among residents, leaving them wondering if the Rapid Transit Scheme will be any better.
First East of England were approached for comment, but nobody was available.
