13 emergency vehicles were on scene at an "incident" last night

Emergency services were reportedly at the scene of an incident yesterday, 22 January.

The incident, which occurred shortly before 9pm, saw the arrival of six fire engines, four ambulances, and three police cars.

Speaking to The Colchester Times, a local resident said: “I knew something big was happening when I saw the first fire engine go by, then the second one went past, and I thought, ‘Well, that’s a lot of fire engines.’ Then the third one came, and I knew it was serious.”

In a statement, East of England Ambulance Services said: “We were alerted to an incident and dispatched four land ambulances by road.”

One witness claimed the scene was “like something out of a Hollywood blockbuster,” though another suggested it was “more like an ITV drama but with less dialogue.”

Speculation about the nature of the incident continues to circulate. Unverified reports suggest that a man had attempted to climb a lamppost “to retrieve what he believed to be a UFO.”

The scale of the response has sparked concern among locals, with one saying “it was like every vehicle in Essex was here. I even saw a bin lorry stop nearby.”

This is a developing story. More as we get it.
