Locals are being advised not to touch the fire

Firefighters are reportedly on scene at a small fire, the size of a medium fire, at a recycling centre in Basildon.

The fire was discovered by a man just after 1pm this afternoon, 19 January.

It is believed that a small pile of recycling, wasn’t on fire, and now is.

Firefighters from Essex County Fire Services arrived and confirmed there was a fire.

In a statement, the service said: “We were called to a fire, and quickly dispatched one fire engine by road.”

“We aim to extinguish the fire soon,” they added.

Additional firefighters from Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service have been called to assist.
